90-Day Novel-Day 2 Check-in

90 Day Novel Challenge

It’s Day 2 of the 90-Day Novel Challenge.

I have been writing a long time and have learned some things, not only from my own long hard work, but from a writing class I had for three years. In this class were all kinds of people: prosperous and poor, stenographers, housewives, salesmen, cultivated people and little servant girls who had never been to high school, timid people and bold ones, slow and quick ones.

This is what I learned: that everybody is talented, original and has something important to say.. –Brenda Ueland

  1. I had a bad day at work today, tried to talk myself into coming home and being a couch potato – wanted to feel sorry for myself for a while – but instead I sat down at my computer and just started typing. Turned my bad day around! Wrote some good stuff today! 1073 words! Woo Hoo! Superstar!

  2. 1007 words tonight and I need a name for my hero. Mr. Nameless has gotten by so far without a proper name, but tomorrow he must have one, so that’s my assignment.

  3. Yesterday was a very good day. I wrote 911 words and read it at my Tuesday group and they were blown away. Left me very motivated to go on. They couldn’t believe I had just written it that afternoon.

  4. Cheryl, regarding naming characters. I saw a good suggestion for how to come up with a name. Write down the qualities you want the character to have and then look in a naming book for names that mean those qualities.
